If you are planning a 5k fundraiser there are a lot of easy ways you can make a lot of money off of the event. You just have to accommodate all of the potential runners that will be in the race and make sure that you get the community to help with the project.
You’ll want to make sure people know you can walk or run at the event, and that you don’t have to be a professional athlete to participate. You can even have a time when kids can enter with their bikes if they want, or allow kids to ride next to parents and strollers. Here are a few things to consider.
Items to Have Donated
A local park or area where you can have the trail marked off is the most ideal. If you can limit where people have to cross the street or prevent it all together it will make the race go smoothly. Ask businesses to donate bottled water for the runners, ask for donations for bagels, snacks and other items for the runners, and even for the flyers and marketing materials. If it’s for a fundraiser the community will want to pull together.
Registration Fees
If you can get most of the costs donated it can lower the cost you charge for the run. You can get more people involved, which means more opportunities to sell promotional items for the event if you offer deals. You can offer the second person on the registration form a discount, and do a five-person team bundle price, or other offers like that. You can also charge more for those that register at the event.
Sell Promotional Items
You can buy screen print shirts online (from an outlet such as Absolute Screen Printing) for the event, and charge enough to make a profit. You can do t-shirts, long-sleeved options and sweatshirts, and even totes or towels. These are great items the people can keep as a souvenir for the event.
You can make a lot of money with a 5k fundraising event if you know what people to market to and if you organize and plan ahead of time. You can even have the family or person or a manager from the charity at the event to collect the check or the money, or to be there for people to see where all the money is going after the day is over and the race is finished.
