This is the beginning of what I hope to be an on going relationship with folks who are interested in the world of Aromatherapy.
There are many ways to improve our quality of life ------- our choices can include exercise, healthy eating with natural foods, fresh air, sunshine, positive mental attitude, pure water, periodic fasting, adequate rest, and surrounding ourselves with things that excite our senses. A passion for me is the use of Essential Oils which, of course, deals with our sense of smell. Essential Oils, however, go beyond the sense of smell in that they can be an aid in strengthening tissue while destroying harmful bacteria. They can be used in baths, massage treatments, in the shower and Jacuzzi, and for specific inhalation treatments. Other ways to enjoy Essential Oils can be as easy as using our imaginations.
Moisturizing our skin is something that many of us are concerned with and sometimes struggle with. Our skin itches, flakes, or simply feels rougher to the touch than we would like. On good days when the air temperature is comfortable and the humidity is at an optimum amount we often notice a difference in our skin texture. For many of us, however, the problem of dry skin still exists.
To aggravate the problem, people in cold climates where the air is usually dry, and in hot climates where the sun dries the skin, it becomes even more important to hydrate our skin.
One of the best ways to deal with dry skin is regular use of a moisturizing cream that contains natural ingredients (not chemically derived). Essential oils blended with an unscented cream or oil (cold pressed) derived from vegetable sources insures us of the natural quality we strive for.
There have been many people seeking a solution for Acne using more natural products. Thankfully there are alternatives to chemically based treatment or drugs taken internally. Aromatherapy offers remedies that may be more suitable as a holistic approach. An example is the use of a general skin toner that can be helpful if you have oily skin. (An overly oily skin is often blamed for acne).
Essential Oils such as Lavender, Chamomile, or Sandalwood help to heal the skin. Some Essential Oils for skin rejuvenation are Clary Sage, Fennel, and Patchouli. In her book "Aromatherapy for Dummies," Kathi Keville suggestss: " To make an acne paste stir 12 drops of tea tree oil into 1/2 teaspoon comfrey root powder and add enough distilled water to make a paste. -------- Dab the paste directly on your acne spots and let it dry into a mask for 10 to 20 minutes before rinsing off". (This book is available at www.Amazon.com). Other suggested Essential Oils for acne can be found in Leah Morgan's book "Aromatherapy Guide." And don't forget to eat healthy, drink plenty of water, exercise, and stay away from fried foods and sweet foods.
